What to watch for
- Cane molasses Moderate risk
A sugary syrup from sugar refining. Dogs have no dietary need for added sugar; it adds calories and is mainly there to make food more appealing. - Sweet potato Low risk
A starchy root vegetable that supplies carbohydrate, fiber and beta-carotene. Potatoes and sweet potatoes were common in the grain-free diets reported in the FDA DCM investigation. - Natural flavor Low risk
Flavoring from natural sources. Normally safe, but the term can hide which animal or plant it came from, which matters for allergies.
What it does well
- Named meat first
First ingredient is beef.
Ingredients
Beef, Rice Bran, Sorghum, Coconut Glycerin, Dried Apple Pomace, Molasses, Barley, Sweet Potato, Distilled Vinegar, Citric Acid (a preservative), Natural Flavor, Blueberries, Pumpkin, Mixed Tocopherols (a preservative), Rosemary Extract.
