Next Frame Media LLC (“we”) makes the app. This page explains what the app stores, why, and how you delete it. The short version: we keep what the app needs to work, we do not show ads, and we do not sell your data.
What we store
- An anonymous user id. Created when you first open the app, so it can work without an account.
- A device id. Used to count daily free limits and to keep your profile tied to your phone.
- Your scans. Which products you scanned and when, so you can see your history.
- Pets you enter. Name, species, breed, birth date, weight, allergies, the ingredient families and classes your pet avoids, and health conditions, only if you add them. They are used to check foods for your pet.
- Label photos. When you photograph a label, the photo is uploaded so it can be read. Label photos are deleted as soon as they have been read, and in any case within 24 hours. Only the text we extract is kept. That text (name, ingredients, guaranteed analysis) becomes product data.
- Label photo status. For each label photo you send: whether it was read, scored or verified, or why it could not be read, so you can follow it under My submissions.
- A push token, only if you allow notifications. It is an address for this phone that lets us send recall and verification alerts. It is tied to this phone and your user id, and deleted when you sign out or delete your data.
- Foods you watch. Which products you chose to watch for recalls.
- Alerts. The recall and verification alerts we create for you (title, text, which food or recall, when it was sent and read), shown in the app under Recalls.
- Error reports. What you flag on a product and any note you add.
- Your email address, only if you add one to sign in. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may give us a private relay address instead.
- Purchase status. Whether you have Premium, received from RevenueCat. We never see your card details.
What we don’t
- No ads, and no advertising or tracking SDKs.
- We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
- No precise location.
- The camera is used only to read barcodes and take the label photos you choose to take. Nothing else is recorded.
- Your photo library opens only when you choose a label photo or a pet photo. Pet photos stay on your phone and are not uploaded.
- No contacts and no microphone.
How we use it
- To show scores, breakdowns, alternatives, recalls and pet-fit notes.
- To alert you when a food you scanned or watch is recalled, or when a label you sent is verified, and to remind you on this phone 2 days before a free trial ends. We do not send marketing notifications.
- To add products we did not have, from the label photos you take.
- To keep your history and pets, and to sync them if you sign in.
- To apply free limits and unlock Premium.
- To fix product data and the scoring method when you flag an error.
- To keep the service secure and working, and to answer you when you contact us.
Processors
These companies process data for us, only to run the app:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage for everything listed above.
- RevenueCat: purchase status for Premium, linked to your anonymous user id.
- Google AI: reads label photos and returns the text on them. Only the photo is sent, not your id, pets or history.
- Apple and Google: billing for Premium through the App Store and Google Play, under their own privacy policies.
- Expo, with Apple and Google push services: deliver push alerts to your phone. They receive the push token and the alert’s title and text, not your pets or history.
We also share, without anything that identifies you:
- Open Pet Food Facts: product facts read from a label (name, ingredients, guaranteed analysis) may be added to this open database. Never your photo, your id, your pets or your history.
Retention
- Label photos: deleted as soon as they have been read, and in any case within 24 hours.
- Everything else: kept while you use the app, until you delete it.
- Product facts read from a label are product data, not personal data, and stay in the product database.
Deleting your data
Open Me in the app and tap “Delete my data”. This removes your profile, pets, scan history, label photos and their label photo status (the record of each photo you sent to be read), reports, push tokens, watched foods and alerts from our servers. If you signed in, it removes your account too. Deleting your data does not cancel a subscription; cancel that in your Apple or Google subscription settings.
If you cannot use the app, email us from the address on the support page and we will delete your data for you.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections. Access rules on the database mean each profile can read only its own scans, pets and reports. Label photos are kept in private storage. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
Children
The app is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you think a child under 13 has used the app, contact us and we will delete the data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a material way, we will tell you in the app or on this page before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
